EcoCrab is a project developed by 6th-grade secondary school students aiming to contribute to solving the Matanza-Riachuelo watershed pollution. Located in Buenos Aires, industrial and sewage waste have turned this area into an inhospitable environment for numerous species struggling to survive and over 4 million residents.
Below, I share the current state of affairs outlining the problem’s scope and existing knowledge.
We selected this topic due to concerns as Almirante Brown residents, part of the Matanza-Riachuelo watershed. Environmental impact, potential diseases affecting us and neighbors and harm to local species’ ecosystems worry us.
We designed a prototype detecting pollution levels and contributing to cleanliness. This device features sensors displaying contamination levels on an LCD screen and motors actively reducing pollution.
